As AUK programs are taught in English, entry requirements include a mandatory English language proficiency qualification. AUK Prep Express course covers English proficiency test formats and prepares you for studying through English at university.

AUK Prep Express is designed for high-school students

studying in 11-grade in Ukraine or living abroad
with current English level of B2 and willing to improve their writing, speaking, reading, and listening skills in English
preparing to gain American Bachelor education in Ukraine and study at the university in English

Suited to those who are preparing to study at university, AUK Prep Express will help you create career goals, introduce you to student life at AUK, and assist you with the application requirements for your program of choice.

Course instructors

AUK Prep Express course structure

AUK Prep Express is an opportunity to boost your English and prepare to study at the university in as little as 10 weeks. The course starts in March and ends up by mid May. You need to already have B2 level of English to qualify for this course.

English excellence

10 weeks of English lessons and Speaking club sessions online. English lessons and Speaking clubs are focused on improving your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Each week you will cover a different subject area, from art, travel, health or nature to technology, sustainability, psychology or sociology. Having mastered these topics, you will increase your confidence in effective and fluent communication.

Career orientation and university preparation

4 weeks of lectures at AUK Campus. You will be able to discover your strengths and future career path with the help of our career orientation tests, as well as learn how to compose your university motivation letter. You will also develop the soft skills necessary to become a high-performing student. Those include time and project management, personal effectiveness, teamwork skills, critical and creative thinking.

AUK Prep course

AUK Prep course includes 20 weeks of English lessons and Speaking club sessions and usually goes from September to March with a Christmas break. In order to qualify for this course you need to have at least B1 level of English.

What level of English will I have at the end of this course?

The AUK Prep Express course will help you to improve your writing, speaking, reading, and listening skills in English at your current B2+ level and boost your confidence to study at the university in English.

What subjects are taught during the university preparation part of the course?

During this part of the course, you will have the chance to feel like a real university student! We will teach you how to write a motivation letter for university admission. You will learn about time management, goal setting, personal efficiency, and improve your teamwork skills and critical thinking. You will also learn about the resources available to you when you become a legitimate AUK student. And the last but not the least – you will have an opportunity to network with AUK faculty and AUK students.

Does this course offer a certificate?

Upon completion of the AUK Prep Express course, students will receive a certificate. Those students who achieve a final grade of 70-100 will get a Certificate of completion. Those students who complete with a grade below 70 will get a Certificate of attendance.

Does this course offer any additional bonuses?

Successful completion of English qualification tests during AUK Prep Express course will count towards the English level requirement for entering AUK. Additionally, AUK Prep Express students are becoming part of AUK’s vibrant community of students and get access to the AUK Library as well as invitations to AUK events and on-campus lectures. AUK Prep Express students will also get a chance to meet AUK faculty and current AUK students.

Why should I take an English proficiency test before start of the course?

To qualify for the AUK Prep Express course, it is important for us to understand your current level of English. To ensure you have relevant study materials and are effective in group assignments, your current English proficiency level should be at least B2+.

What is the schedule of classes within the course?

Groups and schedules for the English course will be determined based on enrollment numbers and students' English proficiency levels. English lessons will be held in the late afternoon from Monday to Thursday, while Speaking Club sessions will take place in the late afternoon on Friday and Saturday. Can I pay in cash?

American University Kyiv does not accept payment in cash. Payments can be made online through our website, or you can request an invoice from the finance department.

What if I fail?

If you do not meet the requirements for completing the course, you will not be entitled to receive a Certificate of completion, you can only get a Certificate of attendance.
