AUK Prep Express course is designed for high school students who plan to apply to Bachelor's programs at American University Kyiv (AUK). This course includes online English language classes and a Speaking club with native speakers to effectively prepare you for studying at the university in English. Through on-campus lectures by AUK faculty, you will discover your career interests and confidently choose a Bachelor's program, while also developing the soft skills needed for successful studies at AUK.

As AUK programs are taught in English, entry requirements include a mandatory English language proficiency qualification. AUK Prep Express course covers English proficiency test formats and prepares you for studying through English at university.

Matt is originally from the U.S., but lives and works in Kyiv, Ukraine since 2012.
Has academic background in English and Education: MA in English (Writing, Literature, & Pedagogy concentrations) from Northern Michigan University 2007 and MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction & Poetry concentrations) from University of Alabama 2004.
Has strong professional background in communication and leadership - 30 years of experience teaching English to university students and working professionals.
Matt has been working as an English language instructor and coach for businesses (Grammarly Kyiv, DataRobot, Syntax Consulting, Talkable) and organizations (American Councils, Kyiv, Baku, Vilnius, Bucharest, Prague, Axis Education Centre).
Originally from the U.S., Rachel has been living and working in Kyiv, Ukraine, since 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History & Education from Frederick Honors College, University of Pittsburgh, and a Marketing Certification from IE Business School.
Rachel has extensive experience in teaching English. She has worked as a Master's Prep teacher at Central European University, an English teaching fellow with the Fulbright Program, and an English discussion facilitator at America House Kyiv, ProEnglish Theater, and Safespace.
Beyond teaching, Rachel has also built a successful career in copywriting, news editing, and voice-over work. Her clients include United24, Darnytsia, and SOVA Jewelers, and she has collaborated with 42DM Digital Marketing Agency, the EdTech start-up ELVTR and UATV NEWS.
10 weeks of English lessons and Speaking club sessions online. English lessons are focused on improving your reading, writing and listening skills. Each week you will cover a different subject area, from art, travel, health or nature to technology, sustainability, psychology or sociology. Speaking club will help to increase your confidence in effective and fluent communication.
You will be able to discover your strengths and future career path with the help of our career orientation tests, as well as learn how to compose your university motivation letter. You will also develop the soft skills necessary to become a high-performing student. Those include time and project management, personal effectiveness, teamwork skills, critical and creative thinking.

To qualify for this course, we ask you to pass Duolingo English Practice Test to check your approximate level.
To complete your enrollment on this program, you will need to submit the application form with payment to reserve a place on a course. Our enrollment advisor will help you on this stage. After that you will get admission confirmation.
The course will increase your confidence in English proficiency and build a strong skillset you need to succeed in your chosen AUK Bachelor’s program.
During this part of the course, you will have the chance to feel like a real university student! First of all, you will improve your English writing, speaking, reading, and listening skills. Then you will learn about time and project management, personal efficiency, and develop your teamwork skills and critical thinking — everything needed to become a high-performing student. You will also discover your career interests and experience the standards of a worldclass American university. Last but not least, you will create valuable connections with AUK faculty and fellow AUK students.
Upon completion of the AUK Prep Express course, students will receive a certificate. Those students who achieve a final grade of 70–100 will receive a Certificate of Completion. Those students who complete the course with a grade below 70 will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Successful completion of the English qualification tests during the AUK Prep Express course will count towards the English level requirement for enrolling as a student at AUK. Additionally, AUK Prep Express students become part of AUK’s vibrant community and get access to the AUK Library as well as invitations to events and on-campus lectures.
To qualify for the AUK Prep Express course, it is important for us to understand your current level of English. To ensure you have relevant study materials and can participate effectively in group assignments, your current English proficiency level should be at least B1.
Online English lessons will take place from 17:00 to 18:30 or from 19:00 to 20:30 each Monday and Wednesday depending on the group to which you are assigned. Online Speaking Club will take place from 17:00 to 18:00 each Friday. Our Enrollment advisor will let you know the detailed schedule of on-campus sessions
American University Kyiv does not accept payment in cash. Payments can be made online through our website, or you can request an invoice from the finance department.
If you do not meet the requirements for completing the course, you will not be entitled to receive a Certificate of completion, you can only get a Certificate of attendance.
