How can individuals be autonomous agents within complex, self-organizing systems? Sociological perspectives with the help of Edgar Morin
We are pleased to invite you to the next Research Seminar with Maximilian Priebe, Friedrich Schiller University Jena (Germany).
Seminar topic: "How can individuals be autonomous agents within complex, self-organizing systems? Sociological perspectives with the help of Edgar Morin".
During the seminar, Morin’s hologrammatic principle and emergentist ontology will be discussed. The speaker will demonstrate that Morin’s approach to complexity offers both a descriptive lens for understanding society and a normative framework for individual and collective action. Participants will gain insight into how individuals can navigate, influence, and ethically participate in self-organizing societies—highlighting Morin’s enduring relevance for contemporary debates on pluralism, democracy, and knowledge.
