About Global Internship program
Dan Rice,
AUK President

"Our research shows that students come to AUK not only for an American-style education but also to experience American culture. I am sure that studying at our university according to American standards, with faculty who have international academic and practical experience, as well as internships in leading American companies, will maximize the potential of our students"

Dan Rice,
Jacek Leskow,
AUK Rector

"AUK is a private university, that is, it provides paid tuition. At the same time, we help our students gain practical experience in international companies, which involves a paid internship that may cover more than one year of study at AUK. This international internship program is part of the American experience we provide to our students”

Since joining our government relations and international logistics teams in August, our AUK interns have brought fresh energy and perspectives that have enriched our operations. They have been a great addition to our company culture, and we’re excited to support their growth through the AUK internship program

The Global Internship Program gave us the opportunity to bring talented AUK students to our company for a multi-week internship in New York City. The impactful program allowed the students to further their professional growth while also educating our colleagues on Ukraine and its culture. Their dedication and fresh perspectives reminded us of the importance of investing in the next generation of professionals

This summer was full of exciting moments, but one in particular stands out. During our internship program, together with Dan Rice, we had the honor of welcoming two talented interns to Casey’s.

I had the privilege of representing Casey’s in Washington, traveling with AUK students and visiting key institutions such as CISA, the Embassy of Ukraine, and the Pentagon. We had the chance to meet inspiring leaders like Laura K. Cooper, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia, and John F. Kirby, former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, and to learn more about their important work in supporting Ukraine.

The most meaningful part of this trip was experiencing firsthand the impact of the war in Ukraine. These students are strong, intelligent, and tirelessly positive despite all the challenges they face. Their questions and passion for their work reflected their unwavering dedication, and I am deeply grateful to Dan Rice and Kristina Ivanchuk for making this unique opportunity possible.

A very special thank you to Kseniia Piskun and Sofia Holovko for being part of our team this summer. You inspired me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will always be grateful to you.

Student stories

My internship in the USA provided a unique opportunity to immerse myself in a dynamic corporate environment. Working on various projects, I gained firsthand experience in internal communications and event management, learning how to navigate and contribute to complex organizational structures. This experience not only honed my professional skills but also gave me valuable insights into the cultural and business practices in the U.S., enriching my overall understanding of global management.

My internship started in June at the international company Doka and lasted till the end of the summer.

It sounds like not a lot of time but this period gave me the biggest amount of knowledge and experience I could ever have within a timeframe like that.

You discover how the international company operates, have a chance to talk to the whole executive team, and gain experience from the leading global company in its field!

If I were asked whether to spend another summer like this, there would be no room for hesitation.

I am proud that AUK is the first Ukrainian university to provide such an incredible opportunity for Ukrainian students. A few words won’t be enough to express how grateful and inspired I am because of the given opportunity and how much it has taught me already. Not only did I understand how the banking industry works from within but met incredible experts in their field who supported and helped me to get the best from the experience.

I am proud that AUK is the first Ukrainian university to provide such an incredible opportunity for Ukrainian students. Not only did I understand how the banking industry works from within but met incredible experts in their field who supported and helped me to get the best from the experience.

One of the best bits of advice I’ve ever received in life is that growth is never convenient, it’s scary and uncomfortable. And when my first day of the internship came, it was exactly what I felt. But let me tell you it was the best day of my life so far, even if I didn’t know it or realize it at that time. The knowledge, the experience, and especially the people that I met here are immeasurable in value. Every experience, and emotion that I have been through here is priceless and really special to me. Therefore, it is imprinted in my heart and will be cherished forever.

And that’s the reason why I am beyond grateful to Dan, to the AUK team for making this happen, and to Doka, and my supervisor Marcelo for everything they did for me and taught me as there are no words that would describe this feeling.

American University Kyiv truly stands out among other Ukrainian universities by offering students the opportunity to intern with leading global companies as early as after their first year of study. This includes collaborations with giants such as JPMorgan, CCI, or Logistics Plus. The university provides not only a high-quality American applied education but also practical experience that allows students to engage in professional activities right away. AUK opens doors to international career opportunities and supports students in choosing their path.

This is a unique opportunity for those who want to receive an American education while staying in Ukraine and simultaneously gain experience in the international business environment. Education in AUK gives you freedom!

AUK Global Internship program is an invaluable chance for me to understand how organizations of such scale work. The most important thing was that we were not doing just some useless work, but we were given many real-life projects that were getting implemented in the process.

Despite working and learning we not only explored American culture in all the possible ways but also tried to tell our story too. For example, we organized an art exhibition at our company with Ukrainian food and art that shows who we are as a nation and what we are going through now, in times of war in our country.

I'm thrilled about my internship in HR Department at Doka, as it provides me with the opportunity to apply what I’ve learned in university to real-world work experience.

Being based in New Jersey means that New York City is just a stone's throw away, allowing me to explore and immerse myself in American culture. Additionally, we had the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C., where touring the White House and Pentagon gave us a deeper understanding of how America operates and reinforced the support we feel here.

In my role, I focus on analyzing and collecting employee data, which helps identify areas for improvement within the organization.

Thank you, AUK and Doka, for this invaluable experience and the chance to grow both professionally and personally.

I’m absolutely amazed by this internship. I cannot list all the opportunities and activities I engage in every day, but AUK internships are not only about gaining working experience.

It is also about exploring new cultures, finding new friends from all over the world, traveling, and visiting world-known places that millions dream of getting to, and overcoming challenges, which help you grow both professionally and personally! This is a truly unique experience that I am proud to have.

My internship in the US was an unforgettable experience that significantly broadened my professional horizons. I met many wonderful people and learned a great deal of relevant information in my field of software engineering. A highlight was our trip to Washington, D.C., where we visited Capitol Hill, the Embassy of Ukraine, the Pentagon, and other iconic sites. This experience, coupled with the practical skills I gained, was incredibly inspiring and reinforced my passion for continuing to grow in my career.

I am very grateful to AUK President Dan Rice for the incredible opportunity to experience my first job at a huge Castleton Commodities International company in America. In addition, Dan Rice was very supportive of us even outside of work, in everything from a meeting in New York with calls to donate for Ukraine, to a visit to the Pentagon in Washington, or a trip to Miami. Therefore, I am sincerely grateful to AUK President for such sincere support and willingness to always help everyone.

Internship after the first year at JPMorgan is one of the reasons that will make you fall in love with AUK.

This experience, understanding, and perspective on the corporate world are just astounding. I am sure that such internship opportunities open many doors in the future and educate new leaders of Ukraine.

Angelina Marusych
Bachelor’s student of Business Administration program

My internship's main goal was to deepen my understanding of American society, culture, and business. Thanks to the exceptional organization, I not only met my personal objectives but also gained valuable insights into the financial industry. I had the privilege of visiting key political institutions like the Pentagon, Capitol, and White House, as well as exploring cultural landmarks and natural wonders. The connections I’ve made and the knowledge I’ve gained have inspired me to keep growing and to one day build companies of this caliber in Ukraine!

I am very glad that I have an opportunity to go on an internship at the Logistics Plus Inc. in Erie, Pennsylvania, USA. For me this is an invaluable experience. I am learning more and more information and growing as a professional. I have met many good people with whom I am sure we will remain friends. I am getting acquainted with the culture of the United States and trying to contribute to familiarizing Americans with the culture of Ukraine. I'm extremely thankful to Dan Rice for the opportunity to be here.

Oleksandra Yusupova
Bachelor’s student of Business Administration program

My internship as a software engineer at Casey's in Ankeny, Iowa, was an amazing experience that went beyond just building my technical skills. I had the chance to work with some incredibly talented and supportive people who helped me grow both professionally and personally. The collaborative environment made it easy to form meaningful connections, which I’ll always value. Living in the Midwest, especially in such a beautiful state, gave me a whole new perspective on life here—it’s something I’ll carry with me forever.

Additionally, I had the unique opportunity to visit Washington, D.C., where I met key people on Capitol Hill and at the Pentagon. Engaging with such influential figures was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that broadened my understanding of government and defense. These meetings gave me a rare glimpse into the inner workings of U.S. leadership, something that has deeply impacted my outlook. This internship, along with the D.C. experience, has been a key moment in my career journey, and I’m excited about what comes next.
