About AUK Scholarship Fund

 

The AUK Scholarship Fund provides a unique opportunity for Ukrainian students, including Veterans and Children and Spouses of Fallen Heros, to earn an American degree while studying in Ukraine. AUK provides education that gives freedom to invent innovative products, discover new solutions, and play an integral part in the global economy.

American University Kyiv is targeted to transform higher education in Ukraine through  American-style teaching, technologies and values.  AUK also is helping those most affected by the ongoing war to obtain education via scholarships and donations.

On April 24, 2023, AUK announced a scholarship fund to support veterans, children and spouses of Fallen Heroes in a partnership with the Institute of International Education (IIE) and the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation. 

A number of leading US-based companies from various industries including transportation, logistics, investment, military tech and others have provided significant donations to support AUK Veteran Scholarship Fund. They include: JP Morgan Infrastructure Fund, Summit Utilities, AEVEX Aerospace, AeroVironment, Point72, Third Coast, Logistics Plus Inc., Liberty Tools. 

Also, some prominent individuals joined the support of veterans with their contributions. Among them are Mr. Tim Tyson, Mr. William Murdy, Dr. Karen Kuhla McClone, Mr. Daniel Rice. While being in Kyiv in 2023, General Petraeus visited AUK and addressed its students, faculty and partners with a keynote speech. He was highly impressed with the quality of AUK learners and education and provided a scholarship for the 4-year education of the student-child of a Fallen Hero. Moreover, General Petraues kindly offered his mentorship support to AUK students.

Ambassador

Kurt Volker

U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations (2017-19),
U.S. Ambassador to NATO (2008-09)

Ambassador Kurt Volker is a leading expert in U.S. foreign and national security policy with over 35 years of experience in a variety of government, academic, and private sector capacities.  He served as U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations from 2017 to 2019, and as U.S. Ambassador to NATO from 2008-2009.  Ambassador Volker is President and Founder of Alliance Strategic Advisors, LLC, which provides strategic advice and services to a diverse range of business clients with interest in Central and Eastern Europe.  He has previously served as a Director of CG Funds Trust and the Wall Street Fund.  He serves on the Advisory Board at BGR Group, which provides government relations, public relations, and business advisory services to a wide array of clients.

 

Ambassador Volker has a B.A. from Temple University and an M.A. in International Relations from the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University. He speaks Hungarian, Swedish, French, some Spanish, and is studying Georgian.

AUK President

Dan Rice

An accomplished entrepreneur and fundraiser, and a former US Army officer with a strong background in leadership, strategic planning, marketing and education.

In addition to his military background, Dan has an extensive leadership experience as the President and Co-Founder of Thayer Leadership at West Point, a leader development company with a diverse range of corporate clients, ranked as one of the Top 40 leader development companies in the world. He is also an award-winning author and a frequent speaker on networks such as CNN, FOX, and other networks.

He served in the U.S. Army as an Infantry officer in Iraq and was awarded the Airborne Badge, Ranger Tab and Purple Heart. Dan Rice holds several degrees from top American universities: MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business of Northwestern University, a Master’s degree in Marketing from Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern, and a Master’s degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania.
