Research

Volodymyr Vakhitov - is an associate professor at the American University of Kyiv.
Volodymyr Vakhitov graduated from the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" with a master's degree in economic theory. In 2017, he obtained the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in economics at the University of Kentucky (USA).
His research interests include exploratory spatial data analysis, urban economics, regional development, behavioral economics, and agglomeration economics.

Having significant work experience at the Kyiv School of Economics, V. Vakhitov participated in various World Bank, USAID projects, and the Norwegian Institute of Foreign Affairs (NUPI) projects.
V. Vakhitov is the director of the Institute of Behavioral Research at the American University in Kyiv.
The Institute, under the leadership of V. Vakhitov, initiates a number of sociological studies on topics relevant to Ukrainian society, particularly those related to immigrants from the occupied territories and the issue of the return of Ukrainians from abroad who left during the war.

V. Vahitov has more than 15 years of experience in applied economic and microeconometric studies of productivity, foreign trade, and large data sets at the enterprise level. His scientific output includes research on the impact of non-tariff regulation on the productivity, trade, and quality of food producers, the impact of deregulation of services on Ukrainian manufacturing enterprises, and the impact of deregulation on local competitiveness in Donetsk and Luhansk regions and Crimea in 2006-2009.
