Abstract:
This presentation explores the evolution, implementation, and effectiveness of interactive concept maps—especially those generated or supported by AI—in modern digital learning environments. We review manual and semi-automated approaches, including the Semantic Portal, as well as recent advances in AI-driven tools that automatically construct concept maps using NLP and large language models. Drawing on empirical studies and our own pilot conducted at American University Kyiv, we examine how concept maps aid learning, particularly in conceptual understanding and review. The findings suggest that AI-powered concept maps are effective educational supplements that promote flexible, learner-centered instruction.
