American University Kyiv has joined the pilot project of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine regarding compensation for the education of children of veterans in higher education institutions for the 2025/26 academic year.
Who can receive compensation for studying at AUK?
Children of veterans studying in bachelor's and master's programs at AUK.
Who is entitled:
- children who have the status of a family member of the fallen (deceased) Defender of Ukraine
- children of veterans and veterans with disabilities as a result of war
- children of combatants
- children of persons who have the status of missing persons under special circumstances
- children of persons in respect of whom the fact of deprivation of personal freedom as a result of armed aggression against Ukraine has been established
- children of persons recognized as injured participants in the Revolution of Dignity
How to get compensation from the state:
1) Submit to the AUK documents confirming the relevant status (birth certificate and extract from the Unified State Register of War Veterans).
2) Receive a notification about the provision of state aid through the Diia application and confirm the notification within 20 calendar days.
3) Wait for information about compensation – the funds will be transferred directly to the university account.
State aid is provided once during the pilot project period in the 2025/26 academic year.
