Since June 2023, American University Kyiv has been honored to support war crimes investigations through its partnership with the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group (ACA). Established by the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom in partnership with the Government of Ukraine, the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group (ACA) supports Ukraine’s efforts to ensure justice and accountability for atrocity crimes committed in the context of russia’s full-scale invasion.
AUK signed an agreement with the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group led by Ambassador Clint Williamson, the Lead Coordinator of the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group for Ukraine, to support ACA in implementing administrative and operational issues in Ukraine.
As part of this partnership, AUK recently hosted the workshop titled “Heritage Justice: Pursuing Accountability for War Crimes Against Movable Cultural Heritage,” on AUK Campus. This critical workshop brought together 22 prosecutors from across Ukraine to examine best investigative practices, international standards, and legal frameworks for the potential prosecution of crimes against movable cultural heritage in the context of russia’s illegal and unprovoked aggression.
AUK is proud to contribute to addressing pressing challenges in Ukraine, advancing justice and fostering international collaboration. We extend our gratitude to the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group for advancing justice and responsibility for atrocity crimes in Ukraine.
