AUK announces the appointment of Jake McGrew, Lecturer, and Program Manager at the School of Business&Management, as Student Life Manager at American University Kyiv.

Jacob McGrew has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Central European University (CEU), Budapest, Hungary; a BS Degree in Economics (w/honors) & Music; Minor in Mathematics, University of Oregon, Eugene, OR, USA. He has international work experience in teaching (American College of Sofia, Bulgaria; Wonderful College Prep Academy, Lost Hills, CA, USA; The US Peace Corps, Volodymyr-Volynskyi, Ukraine), in competency-based adult education; in the development of curriculums and learning materials. Also, Jacob conducted research of human rights social justice issues that affect US and foreign economies, including published work in scholarly journals and The Library of Congress.

In his new position, Jacob McGrew will be responsible for such areas as:

  • Student Governance Area, with the mentorship of students as per self-governance and encouraging the establishment of student organizations;
  • Student Success/Support Area, by giving support for general and academic wellbeing;
  • Retention Efforts Area, by creating a systematic approach to AUK’s retention efforts.

In AUK, we offer a student-centered approach in classes and beyond. We follow the models which proved to be highly successful in the United States and they include all kinds of academic mentorship and support in the leaning journeys of our students. In 2023, we plan a number of activities to energize AUK students’ life despite of the wartime challenges and to make their study memorable and true example of professional networking and support. We are also setting up the student council, which will facilitate student events and the creation of student clubs and organizations. I am glad to be involved and fully support our students on this way", - stressed Jacob McGrew.
