AUK Associate Professor Dr. Hanna Shvindina joined the Ukraine Research Network at ZOiS - Centre for East European and International Studies as a New Fellow.

Dr. Hanna Shvindina has been welcomed as one of the new fellows in the Ukraine Research Network (#UNET) fellowship program at the Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS) in Berlin. The event marked a milestone at ZoiS with the completion of the first two waves of the #UNET fellowship program. Following presentations by the first cohort of fellows, who shared insights from their past year, the new fellows presented their research ideas for the 2024–2025 academic year.

The research "A Way Home: Return Intentions of Ukrainian Refugees and Migrants in Poland" by Nataly Zaika, the Deputy Director of the Institute for Behavioral Studies at American University Kyiv, was presented at the welcoming session at ZOiS by her colleague Dr. Volodymyr Vakhitov, Director of the Institute for Behavioral Studies at American University Kyiv, as part of the fellows' contributions from the previous year.

Dr. Shvindina’s research project titled “Female Leadership in Times of Crisis” explores the dynamics and challenges faced by female leaders in crisis situations, with a focus on resilience, adaptability, and transformative impact. Her work aims to contribute a nuanced perspective to understanding leadership under extreme conditions, particularly in the context of ongoing global challenges.

"Collaboration between scholars in Ukraine and beyond is crucial to deepening our understanding of leadership dynamics, demographic changes, and social transformations in an increasingly interconnected world. By fostering collaborative research and knowledge exchange, these partnerships bring together diverse perspectives and expertise, allowing for a more comprehensive analysis of how global events and local contexts shape leadership strategies, workforce demographics, and community resilience. Such international cooperation not only enriches the academic discourse but also equips leaders with insights necessary to address the unique challenges faced by societies today, especially in times of crisis and rapid social change", stressed Hanna Shvindina, AUK Associate Professor.

As part of the #UNET fellowship, Dr. Shvindina will present her research design to fellow scholars, facilitating collaborative discussions that are key to the ZOiS mission of fostering critical reflection and research on Eastern Europe and its global connections.

The whole event at ZoiS consisted of research webinars, networking and ended up with Congress of Central and East European Studies (ceecon24). More about the Congress you may find at https://www.zois-berlin.de/en/events/congress-of-central-and-east-european-studies-ceecon24-co-hosted-by-zois
