AUK recently held a special meeting for AUK student veterans at AUK Campus with the participation of AUK President Dan Rice and AUK Chief of Staff Liudmyla Dolhonovska.
Back in 2023, AUK President Dan Rice initiated the launch of a scholarship program to support veterans, spouses and children of Fallen Heroes, which opened them opportunities for obtaining an American-style education in Ukraine. The partners of AUK Scholarship fund are Institute of International Education (IIE) and the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation, and financial support is provided by private and corporate American donors.
In the fall of 2023, the first veteran students began their studies at AUK on master's programs in the field of IT and management, and a year later, in September 2024, AUK welcomed the second cohort of veteran masters.
During the meeting, students from the master's programs in Global Management, Software Engineering and Technology Leadership&AI had the opportunity to get to know each other, exchange experiences, ask questions to the leadership team, and share ideas for the development of AUK veterans community.
"As a veteran of the American army, I recognize the importance of comprehensive support for veterans and families of Fallen Heroes, particularly by providing opportunities for them to get a modern education. AUK’s role in educating veterans and those who are currently fighting for Ukraine’s freedom is critically important for the future of the country. I am convinced that new skills, a new community, and positive challenges will motivate them to fullfill their potential for the benefits of Ukraine," stressed Dan Rice, AUK President.
While addressing the students, Liudmyla Dolhonovska, AUK Chief of Staff, outlined, "It is an honor for us to have veterans and family members of Fallen Heroes among our students at AUK. In close cooperation with you, we will assist the university in developing both as an academic institution and as a catalyst for social change, which is consistent with our mission. We will also continue to research and implement the best American practices for interacting with the military and veterans.”
