Mental health and psychosocial support office (MHPSS office)
Maiia Pliushcheva
PhD in Philosophy (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv), Master’s degree in Psychology (National Pedagogical Dragomanov University)

The main motivation of my professional activity is to contribute to positive social change in matters of responsibility, conscious choice, and ecological interaction between human beings, as well as between humans and the world. Within my educational and outreach work, I focus on developing people’s capacity to understand and manage their emotions, thoughts, and inner states in interaction with the world, in social and family roles, and in professional contexts.

The vector of my individual work is aimed at exploring, mastering, and facilitating desired changes in inner states, beginning with a careful and respectful introduction of a person to themselves and to the diversity of their inner parts and roles. Caution, compassion, and trust in the client’s inner strength to cope with life in the way that is best for them are the foundation of my daily practice.

As an experienced psychologist, I continue to refine my skills and master new methods and approaches, as I sincerely believe in an integrative approach and hope to be of benefit to members of the American University Kyiv community and to Ukraine as a whole.
