At the request of the President of the Institute of National Remembrance, by the resolution of the President of the Republic of Poland, AUK Rector Jacek Leskow was awarded with the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity (Krzyż Wolności i Solidaności).
The Cross of Freedom and Solidarity is awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland to members of the 1956—1989 anti-communist opposition in recognition of their activities for the independence and sovereignty of Poland, and respect for human rights in the People's Republic of Poland. Dr. Leskow was active in Poland in the late 1970s, participating in the anti-communist underground and working for the independence of Poland.
“It’s an honor for me to receive such an award and recognition of my struggle for independence and human rights in Poland under the communist totalitarian system several decades ago. I am proud to be among those who were not afraid to fight against this regime. Cross of Freedom and Solidarity is a proof of the devotion of everyone who gave years of his life for a free Poland”, stressed Jacek Leskow.
On behalf of AUK, we sincerely congratulate Jacek Leskow on this award!
