Last week we had an incredible AUK Talks with outstanding speaker and prominent educational leader Dr. Chris Howard, Executive Vice president and Chief operating officer of Arizona State University.
As Dr. Howard mentioned during his speech on American education system and standards, which are the core of AUK education:
“One of the thing we should say it is the idea of democracy. James Madison, the great American Founding Father, known as the Father of the Constitution, said that the only way you could have a functioning democracy is you had an educated citizenry. That's what you need to have a functioning democratic society. And when Rick Shangraw, AUK Founding President says “We prepare you not only for your first job, but also for your last job”, and I agree with 100%, it is about a mindset. There is a a framework that you need to bring to the forefront to be successful. This is not a jobs factory, this is a lifelong learning understanding factory.”
“What AUK and ASU are trying to do is to make the best of who we can be. We have a moral in-game we're trying to achieve through learning and education. Technology, AI is sort of agnostic on that. It's a tool that moves in a direction, it picks up on cues that, it simulates all sorts of data points and moves that way. We as two thriving institutions, AUK and ASU, are trying to actually find good and truth and honesty and have virtues, things that are kind of the hallmarks of education. They sound very old fashioned, but they're actually probably more important in the 21st century, then they were even 100 years ago.”
