On January 19, AUK Director of Global Management program Mark Voyger gave a speech at the conference "UK and Global Security: Scenarios after the war between Russia and Ukraine”. It’s a pivotal gathering designed to explore critical geopolitical issues and formulate strategies in response to emerging global challenges. The conference was hosted by Henry Smith MP from the UK Parliament's House of Commons.
During the session “Sanctions and Assets in Defense Policy» Mark Voyger addressed the audience on the topic of russian quasi-legal warfare, russian leaders' manipulation of current politics and historical memory, and the game of sanctions and counter-sanctions. In conclusion, he summed up:
“In order for us in the West to be able to defeat a resurgent russia, counter its imperialist expansionism and ultimately contain it within its legally recognized borders, we also need to play vigorously on the lawfare front. Just like its evil twin - russian information warfare, lawfare must be studied rigorously and appropriate courses of action must be designed not in a reactive but in a proactive, anticipatory mode - by Western governments, by NATO, by our universities and think tanks.”
