Today we are proud to announce that for the first time in its history, American University Kyiv published the Ukrainian online version of the book “Blind Spots – Why the West must have the courage to alter its strategy towards Russia” by Dr. Stefanie Babst, Former NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, world-renowned strategic advisor.
Dr. Babst presented the Ukrainian translation and the rights for the book to AUK, and today, it is available to broad audiences in Ukraine via the AUK library webpage.
The book, published in April 2023 in German, English and Estonian, attracted wide international attention and today it is available in Ukrainian language as well. In this book Dr. Babst shares personal "inside NATO stories" and thoughts about whether the transatlantic allies are prepared for a long conflict with Putin; do they have the necessary political resolve and determination to confront a terrorist regime.
While addressing the Ukrainian audiences in the Ukrainian edition of the book, Dr. Babst outlined:
“I am a staunch supporter of Ukraine’s fight for freedom. Having served NATO for 22 years, I was able to support your country’s transatlantic aspirations from the Brussels headquarters… In this book I call on our political decision-makers, whether they be in Berlin, Brussels, or Washington, to rise to this challenge, push the vicious regime in Moscow systematically back and provide Ukraine with all the military, economic and humanitarian support it requires. We will not win the war with Russia by sitting it out, ducking away, or trying to appease Putin. Not in Ukraine and not in Europe”.
