During internships in international companies in the USA, the students of the first cohort of AUK Global Internship Program had an exclusive opportunity to participate in a research contest initiated by AUK Rector Jacek Leśkow, PhD.
The contest was dedicated to Padre Eusebio Kino's contribution to the very positive interaction between Europeans and Native Americans in the 17th and 18th centuries. Eusebio Kino was a Jesuit missionary in northwestern Mexico and Arizona. His statue is exhibited in the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center among other important figures who have contributed greatly to the culture of the United States.
The contest was limited to AUK interns in the US, and the purpose of this contest was to stimulate a more profound, fact-based interest in the history of the American Southwest and the Mexican Northwest.
Two contestants won the prize – students of the Business Administration program Dariia Sorokivska (BBA 2023) and Oleksandra Yusupova (BBA 2022).
"Congratulations to Dariia and Oleksandra for the victory and the fantastic work done to discover the features of Eusebio Kino's life! In partnership with Arizona State University, we are proud to introduce and engage our students to American history and traditions. AUK Global Internship program is part of the American experience we provide to our students, and we are glad to strengthen it with such a competition to learn more about the key figures in the history of the United States," stressed AUK Rector Jacek Leśkow, PhD.
